Seven elite scientists from Year 11 received a glimpse of the future when they attended an Institute of Physics lecture at the Chadwick lecture theatre in Liverpool University.
Radha Ramkalawon, Erin Burns, Stewart Allen, Chris Furey, Christian Stewart, Ryan Paton and Callum Hanson heard Dr Melanie Windridge deliver an exciting and interactive talk about the process of nuclear fusion, its benefits and time line for commercialisation. Dr. Windridge who has appeared on the BBC’s "Bang goes the Theory" completed a PhD in Fusion Energy at Imperial College London and spent much of her research time at the JET research facility at Culham in Oxfordshire.
These students learnt that within thirty years the world will have a cheap energy resource for which there is a limitless supply of fuel and there will be no pollution.
