Welcome to the ICT Department

As second specialist subject at Archbishop Beck ICT plays a vital role in school life all the way across the curriculum. We have a team of specialist staff to deliver high quality, creative ICT lesson across all three key stages as well as highly skilled technical staff to ensure the network and resources run smoothly and efficiently.

As a school we are in the process of integrating a learning platform into the curriculum with staff and pupil training taking places across all subject areas. The learning platform is called “Assimilate” and it gives staff and pupil access to resources such as email and also a platform to share resources and materials amongst each other. It also gives parents a greater insight into the type of work their children are doing, not only in ICT but in all subject throughout the school.

Key Stage 3

We have a wide range of subject areas within Key stage 3 ICT that cover all requirements of the national curriculum. We have resources to cover traditional subject areas such as Database and Spreadsheet design as well as more progressive units of work such as E-Safety and Website design.

Key Stage 4

We offer both BTEC ICT and a single GCSE qualification at Key Stage 4. The BTEC option allows pupils to study for the equivalent of 2 GCSE’s while the single award is a DIDA qualification.

Both options cover all aspects of ICT and offer pupils a wide array of ICT skills.

Key Stage 5

At Key stage 5 we offer a BTEC national qualification. This is a single award qualification. The units cover in the academic years 08/09 are:
