A Star in the Making
Ellis from Archbishop Beck is on route to stardom after recently becoming a member of the National Youth Theatre. The National Youth Theatre aims to discover raw talent in young people and give them the best opportunities within the performance industry. Members are given priority to audition for lead roles in some of the biggest national and international shows and the company have nurtured some of the finest British theatrical talent for over 50 years – including Dame Helen Mirren, Daniel Craig, Catherine Tate and Colin Firth
Ellis is one of just of a select group who were hand picked for this year’s cohort.
This was prestigious membership was gained by Ellis on his first audition
Members of the panel were not only impressed with Ellis’s audition but were interested in his wider skills. Ellis said “I found the whole process really challenging but ready rewarding”
Ellis will be sitting his GCSE’s exanimation at the end of Year 11 taking Triple Science, Maths, History, Spanish, and Religious Studies.
Ellis travelled to Sidcup, London where the National Youth Theatre held their two week acting course and said he found the course “a really wonderful experience, not only having tuition from outstanding actors and Directors but found the social aspect of the course really good” Ellis now has his sights set on an a career in acting and hopes to be accepted into RADA. He also paid tribute to the support and encouragement given to him from Archbishop Beck Catholic College”.
