Extra! Extra! Extra! Read all about it!
Instrumental and vocal music lessons are often referred to as "extracurricular".
Music is anything but "extracurricular" at Archbishop Beck Catholic College, Liverpool. The college is not only celebrating recent success at the Wirral Music Festival, but also students have received music examination results.
Many students have achieved their Grade 8 music qualifications, of particular note is Madelaine from Year 11 who gained her Grade 8 with Merit at the recent round of examinations. Maddie is the youngest ever college student to gain Grade 8, an outstanding achievement. Well done to our 6th Form students who were also successful in gaining their Grade 8 Singing qualification, all with distinction!
Director of Music Bruce Hicks said, “Music offers many benefits which make it indispensable to the life skills of young people. Performance programs enhance a student's sense of self-esteem as well as their social skills. Students become a part of a positive group and organization. Not only do students profit socially from music programs, but they also gain academically”
Nothing extracurricular about Archbishop Beck!
