Andrea Bocelli Concert

The College choir from Archbishop Beck took the stage at the Liverpool Echo Arena with the classical music superstar Andrea Bocelli on Tuesday 18th November 2014.

Andrea Bocelli had picked our College choir to perform with him at a city concert.

Bocelli, the world's biggest selling classical artist, ran a competition ahead of his UK and Ireland tour to find amateur choirs to join him on stage.

Annamarie Newton, music director of the choir, said: "We are delighted to have won this highly prestigious competition and to have been rewarded with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to perform live with one of the world's most iconic tenors on his worldwide tour."

The concert also included performances from Britain's Got Talent runner-up Lucy Kay and American violinist and YouTube star Lyndsey Stirling.

Archbishop Beck students joined Bocelli for renditions of Cesar Franck's Panis Angelicus and Franz Schubert's Mille Cherubini In Coro.

The award-winning choir was formed in 2008 and has won several choral titles, including the Bebington Open Choral Trophy at the Wirral Festival of Music in 2012 and 2013, Woodlands Choir of the Year 2011, the Choral Cup at Liverpool Music Festival of Music & Drama 2010 and the Choral Cup at the Southport Festival of Music 2011.

It has also performed in West End musical workshops with the cast of Matilda.

Bocelli, who has sold over 80 million albums around the world, performed in Liverpool, Dublin, London and Birmingham.
