The Big Choir Off!
College Supports World Mental Health Day
The College Choir joined many other choirs on Saturday 10th October to celebrate World Mental Health Day.
The choirs taking part assembled at the Arts Club in the city centre to practice the songs they had prepared under the leadership of Kaya Herstad Carney, the organiser of the event. After an exciting rehearsal, the choirs then headed to Williamson Square to get ready for the big choir sing off!
Crowds were delighted to hear so many hundreds of voices singing beautifully...in six part harmony! The choirs sang 'Happy' by Pharrell Williams & 'Higher & Higher' by Jackie Wilson. The soloist chosen for 'Happy' who led the crowds was former student of the college Mary Savage, currently studying Musical Theatre at RARE College. The choir and college were delighted to have supported such a worthwhile event which highlighted an important issue in today’s society.
Speaking after the event, Mrs Newton, the College vocal director said, “This was a really marvellous event and a great opportunity for our students to support such a worthwhile cause”.
