Musicians of distinction hitting all the notes and in the right order!
Talented music students have hit the high notes by achieving distinctions in their performances at the Chester Competitive Festival of Performing Arts held recently.
The pictures from the Festival show the outstanding achievements of our talented, successful and highly motivated musicians, drawn from our College Concert Band and College Chamber Choir.
Bruce Hicks, Band Director at the College said “the results were very impressive. Our students are all talented performers, they have worked hard to achieve really great results in both ensemble and solo performances. They are indeed a most remarkable group of young, committed people.”
Grace, winner of the Open Instrumental Solo and is currently taking her A-Levels and plans to study history at Liverpool University in the future, said she chose music as it is one of her passions. “I was so, so happy and wonderfully surprised with my first place. This is a great way to finish my career as a student at the college.”
While Emma, a Year 10 music student speaking after the festival said, “I feel that the experience of performing as a soloist and member of the Chamber Choir and Concert Band has enhanced my musical journey. I have learnt the value of long term preparation, commitment to a goal and the thrill of a winning performance which are indeed valuable lessons not necessarily taught in the classroom.”
