Mr O’Brien’s “Truly Wild at Heart”

Wild in Art is a company that creates sculpture trails, usually based on a specific animal or character. They have staged trails all over the UK and as far as New Zealand. Artists are required to send in 2D designs on templates, if selected, they then paint and varnish the sculpture.

The sculptures are placed around various locations of a hosting city, for approximately two months, before being auctioned off to raise money for whichever charity they are linked too.

Since 2009 Mr O’Brien has created seven sculptures Including Go Penguins (Liverpool) The Year of the Bus (London) The Baron's Charter (Salisbury) and this year The Oor Wullie Bucket Trail (Dundee) The Great Big Rhino's Project (Devon) and The Great North Snowdogs (Newcastle). The most recent being the Oor Wullie Bucket Trail which raised a great deal of money for the Archie Foundation, an organisation which works with sick Children. Other charities that the auction of his sculptures has raised money towards are The Trussell Trust (Providing UK Food banks) St Oswald's Hospice, Paignton Zoo (Rhino conservation) Kids Company and Transaid.
