The college Art department has recently had a visitor from Aintree Racecourse and the Jockey Club, in the form of a life size fibre glass racehorse.
Three Liverpool schools were invited to design and decorate the horse to be displayed at the community race in November and the winner of the three is to be showcased at the 2018 Grand National.
Inspiration for the design of the horse came from a variety of channels, from ladies day to previous National winners to local connection with Hartley’s Jam.
Mr O’Brien, the project leader, spoke of his “admiration for the dedication, commitment and sheer talent shown by both the staff and our wonderful students”.
The Horse, has been the subject of a great deal of complimentary comments from not only the college community but also from our visitors. Local representatives from our partner primary schools joined us recently for a Breakfast meeting and were delighted to have their photo take with the wonderful statue.
Well done to students: Courtney, Beth, Jacob, Jordan, Anthony, Joe, Declan, Sophie, Grace and Tom. A huge congratulations to all staff involved: Mr O’Brien, Miss Chaplin, Miss Sharpe, Mrs Stephens and Mrs Higgs.
The entire college community wishes the Art Department every success in the final "race-off" in November!
