Mr O'Brien has been busy creating more fund raising public art characters for trails in Dundee & Manchester over the Summer.
‘Pen Broon’ is currently on display in Dundee as part of Maggies Penguin parade’ she is based on a character from the Broons comic series. She and all other penguins on the trail will be auctioned in October to raise funds towards ‘Maggies centre’ cancer charity.
Bee in the city is a trail heading to Manchester over the Summer. As the bee sculptures were too big to fit through his front door, Mr O’Brien used his classroom to paint ‘Queen Bee’ and ‘Hilda Bugden’ (based on Coronation Streets, Hilda Ogden) the bees are to join over 80 others on the trail and will be auctioned off to raise funds for love Manchester charities.
Mr O’Brien has worked on 17 public art trails to date and his work has raised in excess of 55,000 for various charities. He might stop at 20 or when his front door falls off its hinges!
