Basketball Academy Report

Archbishop Beck College vs Allerton High School

“Attitude and aptitude of the Archbishop Beck players takes the honours on the day”.

The ABL Conference North continued with Archbishop Beck of Liverpool visiting City of Leeds Basketball Academy (Allerton HS).

The opening two quarters would set the tone with Archbishop Beck employing their trade mark zone defence forcing Allerton, with no real interior presence and a lack of consistency from the perimeter, searching for ideas.

Coach Delme Herriman’s team stuck to task and pounded the ball inside exploiting mismatches in several positions and further capitalizing on unforced errors and poor decision making.

Archbishop Beck would go in to the half with an 18 point lead on the back of an impressive 34 point half from Deveney, the culmination of a rampant team first-half performance. The battle would continue into the second half with Leeds making some adjustments but unfortunately they could not stem the tide, as the 3rd and 4th quarters would go in the favour of the team who had travelled over the Pennines.

Coach Newby articulated his thoughts on the game saying, “All Credit goes to Coach Herriman

(ABCC) and his team they are tough and uncompromising in their approach and they capitalized in every aspect of the game. They dominated us on any aspect 50 / 50, loose balls, rebounding and rips, this to the coach as well as the attitude and aptitude of the players.
