Archbishop Beck Catholic College Band has won a coveted prize at the Chester Music Festival.
Archbishop Beck Catholic College Concert Band came out top in their category winning the Open Wind Band category at the recent Chester Music Festival.
Congratulations to Megan for winning a number of individual awards and our Saxophone Ensemble for gaining 2nd place in their category.
Headteacher Paul Dickinson said: "The college concert band has produced a consistently high standard year on year. The college band changes year to year, as students progress through the school, so to maintain this level is amazing” adding “this is a great tribute to our staff and of course our wonderful students."
Speaking after the event Mr Hicks said: “Traditionally significantly more bands have participated in the various Music Festivals in the North West. However, with significant cuts to instrumental music programmes over the last few years, this has plainly affected their ability to attract more entries”. Adding “I am delighted with the outstanding achievements of our concert band, our students and various ensembles, they rehearse tirelessly to reach the highest standard.”
Music education opens doors that help children pass from school into the world around them - a world of work, culture, intellectual activity, and human involvement. The future of our nation depends on providing our children with a complete education that includes music. Gerald R. Ford
