The Patron of Archbishop Beck Catholic College has been announced! . . . Mrs May Richardson
"The best teachers teach from the heart, not from the book". Author Unknown
We are delighted to announce that the College has appointed a Patron of Archbishop Beck Catholic College. The Patron of the College is a new role which aims to build a close relationship between the college and our local community. Headteacher Paul Dickinson announced that former deputy head teacher of Archbishop Beck Catholic College, long standing governor and valued friend, Mrs May Richardson has agreed to accept this honorary appointment.
Many of our community will know, and remember fondly, Mrs Richardson whose wonderful service, support and enthusiasm for every aspect of college life has known no boundaries. May has served the local community since starting her teaching career at Blessed Sacrament Infants in 1953. May briefly left the area to teach at St. Alexander’s, Bootle, before returning to the community to teach at Blessed Sacrament Juniors in 1962. In 1970 May’s association with the College started as she joined the teaching staff of St. Bonaventure’s, which became Archbishop Beck in 1983. On retiring in 1995 May joined the board of governors of the College and has made an outstanding contribution to the College as a governor.
Headteacher Paul Dickinson, said “by appointing May Richardson as our Patron we salute a lifetime in education, service and commitment to our community” adding “May has always spoken from the Heart, lead by the Heart and inspired from the Heart.”
So what is May’s advice to youngsters today: firstly, to take every opportunity that comes along in life and secondly, to always look on the bright and happy side of life.
We look forward to May continuing to support the College for many years to come.
