The Girls' Network
"A woman is like a tea bag - you can't tell how strong she is until you put her in hot water." Eleanor Roosevelt
15 of our Year 11 students have now come to the end of The Girls’ Network, a prestigious mentoring programme which works with young women across the UK and aims to inspire and empower girls by matching them with an individual, professional female mentor. During their 10 mentoring sessions, the girls have received advice on matters such as career opportunities, CV writing and confidence building. Some of our girls have even secured work experience placements through the programme.
On Wednesday 29th January, the girls had their final mentoring session, which was also attended by Metro Mayor, Steve Rotheram. It was a beneficial experience for the girls and an opportunity to showcase the amazing things the mentees have been doing during the programme. The girls have also been invited to a celebration event where they have access to a careers fair and a panel talk with influential women from the City, as well as a wonderful opportunity to network with mentees from other schools.
Mentees will also be invited to become Ambassadors for The Girls' Network which means they will have access to the nationwide network for life as well as invitations to all events and workshops and work experience and job opportunities.
Well done girls!
