"Genuine poetry can communicate before it is understood." T.S. Eliot
Congratulations to Lucy in Year 8 for her outstanding poetry contributions to the college community. Lucy’s love of poetry has stemmed from her English classes, recent Holocaust events and also by our inspirational 6th Form poet, Joseph.
Lucy said, “I love how poetry is able to express so much in such a short space.”
Surrounded by barbed wire
Death all around
No safe place to hide
Our lives are now no more
Tears rolling down people’s faces
Wondering if the outside world will be their friend once more.
Bombs falling no lives saved
Peoples pleads for help filled the air
Cramped spaces with no room
What has my life become
It doesn’t matter my race or religion
Red poppies now symbolise my true life
I hope the world realises the destruction soldiers caused me
Just for my religion and race.
