Students Work with Top Composer

Archbishop Beck music students work with top composer and performers from the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.

A Level Music students at Archbishop Beck Catholic Sports paid a visit to the Philharmonic Hall on Wednesday May 5th. Prominent British composer David Horne came from the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester and spent the day with the A Level music students while they had their music compositions performed and recorded by members of the “phil”.

The students had been composing as part of their final submission for coursework. They decided to compose for a String Quartet. The special composing project that has been run by Archbishop Beck has David Horne as its “Composer in Residence” and David comes and works with the students every few weeks. “The students were in awe of David’s expertise, and were honored to see their name on a page of sheet music and have their compositions played by world class players", said Bruce Hicks, Assistant Headteacher at the College.
