Career Opportunities

Careers - Apprenticeships

Hi and welcome to the Apprenticeship section of the website.

There are two main outcomes in this section:

  1. Provide you with links to Apprenticeships.
  2. Provide you with tutorials on how to register and apply for Apprenticeships.

What is an Apprenticeship?

Apprenticeships allow you to combine work and study by mixing on-the-job training with classroom learning. You'll be employed to do a real job while studying for a formal qualification, usually for one day a week either at a college or a training centre. By the end of your apprenticeship, you'll hopefully have gained the skills and knowledge needed to either succeed in your chosen career or progress onto the next apprenticeship level.

Retail Apprentice – Various locations

Apprenticeships don't have to be a Plan B. At least not at the Co-op. Our retail trailblazer programme is designed to really set you up for success, and propel you into the world of retail. You'll get all the support you need, and unlike a lot of retail apprenticeship programs, you'll receive a full time salary and won't have to pay anything towards your learning. We'll even give you an iPad to help you with your studies.

Being a retail trailblazer isn't just stacking shelves. It's so much more. You'll complete 11 core modules such as brand, marketing, product and team, to name a few, showing how you've learnt it, shown it and lived it. 20% of your time will be spent completing these modules through interactive technology, wherever's most convenient for you.

So that you're set up for success, you'll need to be able to demonstrate the required standard in maths and English. We'll look to see if you've had under 12 months experience within a food retail role before, so that everything we're teaching you is new and exciting. To find out if there is an opportunity near you, click apply now below.

Careers - Parents

Apprenticeship Guidance for Parents

Our purpose, is to help our students find theirs. To assist students we have created a full school careers plan (which can be found on the Career Policy page) with a list of the outcomes we wish to achieve. That way you can track your child's journey through school. We understand how important careers decisions are. Therefore this page is designed to assist you with that process - by providing you with a range of resources that can help you.

For more information or to arrange a meeting, please call 0151 525 6326 or contact Antony Stagg at antony@antonystagg.com

Careers Advice is not just for Young People, Parents/Carers also need support to help young people make tough and challenging decisions. Careers advice for parents is a website that has been set up by careers professionals and recommended by the UK Career Development Institute. ‘Careers Advice for Parents aims to give you an easy-to-read overview of all the essential facts on finding jobs and apprenticeships or choosing further and higher education courses which could make a real difference to your child’s future career prospects.’
